Mint Green Tea

On a trip to Marrakech a few years ago I discovered the joy of real mint tea. It was hot and dirty in Marrakech, and while my tastebuds adored the food, my tummy wasn't so chuffed! Mint does wonders for an upset tummy, and this is mint in it's purest form. In Marrakech they serve this mint tea with a lot of sugar, but I prefer this concoction a lot less sweet, and they make a show of pouring from their beautiful tea pots from a great height to make the hot mint goodness all frothy.

Here's a quick recipe for home made mint and green tea, so you can get all of the goodness of the mint oils, and the antioxidants in the green tea, making this a true 'super' drink!

ingredients: 1 or 2 green tea bags (depending on how much you want to make)

4 sprigs of fresh mint, stalks included.

1 tsp of honey (or more to suit your taste)

directions:

Boil a kettle of water and leave to cool for a minute in the kettle (boiling water can taint the taste of the green tea). Pour the boiled water over the green tea bags and mint in a teapot and allow to brew for about 3 minutes. Dramatically pour your green goodness into a cup from a height (for an authentic Moroccan experience) and add the honey.

Your brew is also fantastic if allowed to cool and served over ice with some mint sprigs added, or try adding a chunk of peeled ginger to your teapot and doubling the benefits for your tummy. If you are serving iced, add the honey while the tea is still hot. You could also add some lavender or some fresh lemon to the brew. Get creative with it!

Enjoy in the sunshine and relish in how good for you this delicious combination is.
