Recipe: Health Kick Trail Mix

If you regularly grab a cereal or breakfast bar for breakfast, thinking it's quick and healthy, this could be the perfect alternative for you. The thing about 'bars' of stuff is that it needs to be stuck together with something, and that usually involves some kind of sugary syrup, which counteracts all the goodness that might be in there. When I lived in America we were given bags of trail mix on our exam days, full of cereals and chocolate to give us the 'energy' we apparently needed for the exam, and this is inspired by that!

This mix is also super cheap, and will last you a lot longer than a box of cereal bars, both in the cupboard, and in your tummy! All the ingredients were sourced in....only bloody Poundland and Lidl! Yes, the whole lot comes to a bargain busting £5.00!!!

So here's what you need to make a healthy jar of goodness to keep you going for weeks to come!

135g Brazil Nuts

150g Cinnamon Cranberries

150g Dark Chocolate Cranberries

175g salted Almonds

100g mixed (unsalted) nuts.

Combine the whole lot in a large air tight jar and give it a good shake around to mix it up. Serve in portions of around 25g-30g for a healthy energy boost any time of day.

This is the perfect combination or sweet, salt, tang, spice and crunch, and not a nasty sugar syrup in sight! Plus you're getting some serious nutty goodness!
